Dr Benji Lim

Dr Benji Lim is an Interventional Cardiologist with extensive experience in coronary angiography and angioplasty, also known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or stenting. He has performed over 2,000 PCI procedures as the primary operator, including complex cases such as left main bifurcations, calcified lesions, and total occlusions. He routinely incorporates intravascular imaging and pressure wire assessment into his daily practice.

He obtained his medical degree from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, in 2007 and completed his postgraduate Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2012. He finished his Advanced Specialist Training in Cardiology in 2015 and underwent a one-year fellowship in interventional cardiology at Inselspital, University of Bern, Switzerland, in 2017. Before joining Novena Heart Centre, he was a Senior Consultant Cardiologist at Changi General Hospital and a Visiting Consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore.

Dr Lim has been actively involved in medical education. He served as the Associate Program Director of the SingHealth Cardiology Senior Residency Programme from 2018 to 2024 and held teaching positions as a Clinical Assistant Professor at SingHealth Duke-NUS and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. His contributions to medical training and patient care have been recognised with multiple awards, including the SingHealth Quality Service Gold Award in 2022, the Silver Award in 2025, the SingHealth Residency Outstanding Faculty Award in 2020, and the Eastern Health Alliance Young Educator Award in 2016 and the Silver Star Award in 2014.

His research has been published in renowned international journals such as Circulation and the Journal of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology. He is regularly invited to speak at regional and international scientific meetings.

Dr Lim has a keen interest in the prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease and its risk factors, including diabetes, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. He also has a special interest in sports cardiology and is a certified Exercise is Medicine Practitioner.
