About the Speakers
Dr Tang Hak Chiaw
Dr Tang began his cardiology training at the National Heart Centre Singapore in 2004 before undertaking advanced subspecialty training in cardiomyopathy and cardiac MRI at The Heart Hospital, University College London Hospitals, UK, in 2010. Upon his return to Singapore, he established the dedicated Cardiomyopathy Clinic at the National Heart Centre Singapore in 2011. Dr Tang has extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, with a special interest in heart muscle diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, exercise-related cardiac adaptations in athletes, and cardiovascular complications associated with cancer therapies (cardio-oncology).
Dr Benji Lim
Dr Lim is an interventional cardiologist practicing at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Orchard, specialising in coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). He has performed over 5,000 coronary procedures, including more than 2,000 PCIs as the primary operator. He trained at Trinity College Dublin and completed his interventional fellowship at Inselspital, University of Bern, Switzerland. He previously served as Associate Programme Director for the SingHealth Cardiology Residency Training Programme, and has received multiple awards for his contributions to education and patient care. His clinical focus is on prevention and management of coronary artery disease and its risk factors – diabetes, hypertension, and hypercholesterolaemia.
Dr Kenneth Ng
Dr Ng is a Heart Failure Specialist widely recognised for his expertise in the management of heart failure across the ASEAN region. He established and led a highly regarded Heart Failure Programme within the National Healthcare Group, serving as Programme Director from 2003 to 2007. Committed to medical education, Dr Ng is actively involved in training the next generation of doctors through his appointment as a Clinical Tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. An accredited Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor, he has also been invited to conduct ACLS training courses in Malaysia and Brunei, contributing to the advancement of emergency cardiac care in the region.
Dr Raymond Lee
Dr Lee is a Cardiac Imaging Specialist with extensive expertise in the use of advanced cardiovascular imaging for the diagnosis and management of heart disease. His clinical and research interests include the early detection of coronary artery disease, the assessment and management of valvular heart disease, and the impact of ethnicity and diabetes on the natural history of cardiovascular disease in Singapore. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Adelaide, Australia, in 1991 and Advanced Specialist Training in Cardiology in Singapore in 2003. He subsequently pursued subspecialty training in Echocardiography at Princess Alexandra Hospital, University of Queensland, Australia (2003–2004), followed by advanced training in Cardiac Computed Tomography (Cardiac CT) at the University of Erlangen, Nuremberg, Germany, in 2006.
Dr Hsu Li Fern
Dr Hsu is a leading Cardiac Electrophysiologist widely recognised for his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. His clinical and research interests focus on atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and the prevention of sudden cardiac death. After graduating from the National University of Singapore, he obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1997. He completed Advanced Specialist Training in Cardiology at the National Heart Centre Singapore between 1998 and 2001, before pursuing advanced fellowship training in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Management at Hôpital Cardiologique du Haut-Lévêque, Bordeaux, France, from 2002 to 2004.
Dr Jimmy Lim
Dr Lim completed his undergraduate medical training in the United Kingdom before returning to Singapore to pursue specialist training in cardiology. He further advanced his expertise at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, USA, where he received subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology, Preventive Cardiology, and Cardiac Rehabilitation. From 2004 to 2007, as Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Dr Lim was Singapore’s highest-volume operator for primary angioplasty, performing life-saving coronary stenting procedures for patients experiencing acute heart attacks.
